Business Environment in Lithuania (Europe)

Over the past decade, in terms of economic growth rates, Lithuania was leading country among the Baltic States (Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia). During the period from 2000, Lithuania’s economy has grown on average by 5.3 percent per year, Estonia’s — by 4.6 percent, and Latvia’s — by 4.3 percent. Lithuania, having the largest population among the Baltic countries, also produces more than half of the Baltic economy. In Lithuania industry makes up roughly 23 percent of the GDP, while services make up about 69 percent.

The flow of FDI in Lithuania in 2010 increased nearly four-fold compared with 2009. The number of FDI projects went up by 52 percent.

Around 1/3 of global FDI has gone to business and financial services, whereas industrial investment has also been on the rise (21 percent growth).

It is expected that the FDI projects launched in 2010 will bring EUR 1.15 billion investment, and more than 3,300 new jobs will be created on the market over the next 3 years.
